The new rehabilitation network includes four new departments—three of them are general rehabilitation departments that will receive young patients (up to age 60) who have been injured as a result of war or for other reasons, and one respiratory department for head-injury patients.
This network will add approximately 129 rehabilitation beds and enable treatment of about 1,000 injured individuals each year. The project has been approved by the Ministry of Health and aims to significantly improve the quality of rehabilitation in Israel, with an emphasis on medical and psychological care for young patients who have been injured in combat or for other reasons.
Helping establish life-saving departments
Payment for hospitalization is made through the hospital’s working agreements with all the HMOs, the Ministry of Health, the National Insurance Institute, and the Ministry of Defense and Welfare.
The nonprofit has already set up 2 departments: one opened in June 2024, and the other in November 2024.
For the establishment of 2 additional departments and their full operation during 2025, the nonprofit is required to invest in medical equipment for the benefit of patients.
Three General Rehabilitation Departments
In each department:
- 35 Ministry of Health–licensed beds, plus 20 rooms
- A day-treatment room and a spacious dining area
- Total department size: 1,177 square meters
Department Opening Timeline:
- The first General Rehabilitation Department on the 7th floor opened in May 2024 with the help of generous donors and is already at full capacity.
- The second General Rehabilitation Department on the 4th floor opened in November 2024.
- The third General Rehabilitation Department on the 3rd floor will open by early March 2025.
A donation of 4,000,000 NIS is needed for new medical equipment for the new departments on floors 3–4.
Fourth Department – Prolonged Ventilation and Respiratory Rehabilitation for Head Injuries – Floor H:
Opening date: June 2025
- Department size: 1,390 square meters
- 24 beds in 20 rooms, including 11 private rooms
- A day-treatment room and a spacious dining area
- Full oxygen and ventilation infrastructure in every room
